Pandavas Paradise is set within its own 1000 acre nature reserve. Like the Amazon and Atlantic rainforests, the Cerrado biome is also disappearing quickly, mostly due to industrial agriculture, but we are fortunate to enjoy a setting in original, preserved Cerrado. Along our trails that lead to our wateralls and lookout points, you can find a huge diversity of Cerrado plants.
The Chapada dos Veadeiros region is home to over 300 species of birds and many of those species can be spotted here in Pandavas Paradise, with perhaps the most well-known being the toco toucan, the blue-and-yellow macaw, the greater rhea, and the red-legged seriema. Other wild animals that have been seen within our nature reserve include maned wolves, foxes, armadillos, ant-eaters, and even some very cute native guinea pigs.
Pandavas Paradise is a great location for wildlife and landscape photography. There is a great amount of variey here, from the open cerrado fields to the gallery forrests which run alongside the rivers. The waterfalls are spectacular. The wide open views are always breathtaking but especially during sunrise and sunset. At night, especially during the cloudless June-September months, the skies are full of brilliant stars. And for those who enjoy macro photography there are always inumerable species of flowering plants, as well as interesting butterflies, grass-hoppers and other insects to be found.
